“Standardize Warehouse Management Operations”
Chamberlain said: Implement a best of breed WMS across 8 North American sites in under 18 months. Ensure consistent functionality and processes across all sites.
The engineers at Scott Sheldon said: We can do that.
Chamberlain initiated a project to standardize warehouse management operations across its 8 North American locations in anticipation of a new ERP rollout. In addition Chamberlain wanted to establish common processes and SOP’s resulting in lower operating costs and reduced transportation spend across all sites.
Chamberlain sought a partner who could offer both outside expertise and a high degree of flexibility in order to match the demands of an aggressive time line developed to align with the corporate implementation of SAP.
The “Ah Ha” moment: A global design and common functionality enables a “fast track” implementation while reducing cost and minimizing risk. Long term support needs are consistent and managed with common KPI’s and matrix across all sites.
Scott Sheldon leveraged our Global Design Methodology to identify improvement levers, manage the overall program and accommodate an aggressive time line. Our Global Design Methodology streamlines implementation as it sets and enforces standard operating procedures, system configurations, metric measurement, and financial reporting. Our supply chain engineering team managed program planning, systems design, implementation, support, and program/project management activities. These responsibilities included the setup of a program team, budget management and risk management. An implementation rollout was developed to coincide with minimal inventory and reduced volume at each site.
The project was successfully completed in 18 months and exceeded the expected benefits. Each site supports an operation and set of SOP’s providing staffing flexibility and improved global reporting. Multiple locations documented productivity improvements resulting in reduced headcount and helping align Scott Sheldon as a long-term partner.
We get it.
